Wonderful Wonderful Copenhagen

When I'm asked where my next gig is by friends etc and I reply Paris/Stockholm/Berlin (or wherever it is we're playing) - the response is usually - "Oh you'll have to see the Eiffel Tower/Abba Museum/Riechstag".  This would be lovely but the realities of playing gigs mean that the only thing one is likely to see are the insides of a:

  • Airport
  • Hotel
  • Theatre

So here's what happened during the 36 hours I was away this weekend - up at 5.30, drove to Gatwick Airport (2hrs), flew to Copenhagen (Denmark) checked into hotel, slept for an hour, subway to theatre, soundcheck, ate food, played gig, met fans/signed CD's, quick drink, back to hotel, slept, up early, airport, drive home, zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

Here's the obligatory soundcheck picture!

Our hotel was probably the most bizarre place i've stayed in architecturally speaking, If I ever plan to make a zombie/brain control movie this is the place.  Both the theatre and hotel were not in downtown Copenhagen (I'd love to have seen the little mermaid) but on a windswept deserted tundra connected by monorail and purposeful modern architecture.

However when all is said and done, I love my job because I meet the nicest people and I work with the nicest people! (generally speaking!)
