Marlborough Rising

After a quiet summer break, visiting my sister in Switzerland, and doing plenty of mountain walking, it was back to work for our appearance at the Marlborough Rising festival, held in the grounds of Marlborough School in Wiltshire.

We'd never played this place before - it had a beautiful auditorium - recently reconditioned.

According to Jamie (road manager) the seating capacity was 574, which is the exact number of old pupils from the school killed during the First World War.

Pre show hanging around

We were without Jonty and Dave for this show, Dave Bowie filled in for Jonty, while I moved up one seat to the end where Dave usually sits.

This is a practice ukulele, insofar as the body of the uke is made of cardboard, which works as a sort of makeshift resonator - never signed one of these before. Hesters daughter looks on baffled by us grown ups!

That was a cracking show wasn't it? Such an intimate venue too and such a surprise to spot George in the audience. Great gig guys - you rocked as always. xx
